We're proud to be one of the first (if not the first?) company to integrate with the new App Store Analytics API. And with it we're also getting a ton of questions - and to be honest, this is all new to us too so we're also learning as we receive the CSVs and learn about them.

Below you can find a compilation of our most asked questions so far. If you have a question of your own, please send it over the chat so we add it to this collection.

App Store Analytics FAQ

What's the price for this integration?

App Store Analytics will be included as a free upgrade to all our current customers.

That being said, we will increase prices for new customers in 2024. So if you're considering to buy, we recommend you get onboard before that.

Are there any special requirements to use this new reports? Do I have to do anything?

Yes, here's what's different about it:

  1. The Analytics API requires an API key with Admin permissions

  2. Analytics takes 1-2 days to be unlocked after your credentials are saved

The Analytics Reports need to be requested before it can be accessed, a bit like Google Play. Unfortunately, only Admins can request a report, so that's why we're asking for a higher permissions this time around.

What's the process to activate the App Store Analytics API?

Which metrics will be available in this first batch?

This first batch will include the "App Store Discovery and Engagement" metrics (see here).

Putting it shortly, it's a report about Acquisition. It contains metrics such as Impressions, Product Page Views, etc, by App, Country, Page Type and Source Type.

Are there any limitations or caveats I should we aware of?

  • For now, Apple released data from January 2024 onwards only

  • There are "Standard" and "Detailed" fields in certain reports. We're still investigating to understand the impact of it in your data.

What will happen to the Chrome Extension then? Should I stop using it?

For now, we recommend you continue using while we don't make all the reports available via the API.
Once we complete this integration, than we'll slowly deprecate our extension. Don't worry though: we'll notify you when the time comes. For now, please continue using it to get your Analytics metrics.

What's the difference between Trends and Analytics?

Trends (or Sales and Trends) is Apple's old-school report based on Units which can be filtered by App Installs, Redownloads, Updates, and In-App Purchase Sales. Trends is also fairly limited as it comes with basic filters, like App, Country and Device.

Analytics (or "App Analytics) is the modern version of Trends. It contains User Acquisition metrics such as Impressions, Product Page Views, Total Downloads, etc, but also Sales and Engagement-oriented metrics such as Proceeds, Active Devices, Crashes, Uninstalls, and a bunch more. More importantly, those metrics can be dissected by Custom Product Page (hello, paid UA), Source (Search, Explore, Referrals), Country, Page Type, Country, App Version, and others. This combination makes App Store Analytics the app industry's sweetheart.
